The flag you talk about is called "Willingness" in the OLSR protocol. Combined
with a working MPR algorithm it can do exactly what we were talking about. So
it should be possible with the next generation of OLSRd (and the OLSRv2 code).

Wow, that sounds really great. I have to look at this app...
If we can combine this with some (IPv6 based ?) stateless autoconfiguration,
we could build a mesh for smartphones (and other devices) that can work out of
the box without any kind of configuration.
