[Olsr-users] more bandwidth needed?

It's a my impression or 0.6.0 has more chatter that 0.5.6-r8? (more
bandwidth needed?)

I did some - simple indeed - download speed tests using speedtest.net
from the same node 1 hop far from the same gateway,
During the tests the network topology is unchanged: same node
locations, same olsrd configuration, same number of nodes and always
the same single gateway node.
All the nodes are static, work on 802.11bg and olsrd link table shows
LQ=NLQ=1 for all the links either in 0.5.6-r8 or 0.6.0.

So far so good, but download speed is a bit laggy when the nodes run
0.6.0 (I repeated the tests many times, same results: 0.5.6-r8 seems a
bit faster).

I did not use NIIT or SmartGateway, and the following is the
configuration used in both the tests:

DebugLevel 0
IpVersion 4
AllowNoInt yes
Pollrate 0.05
TcRedundancy 2
MprCoverage 7
LinkQualityFishEye 1
LinkQualityLevel 2
UseHysteresis no

UseNiit no

SmartGateway no
SmartGatewayUplink "ipv4"
SmartGatewayUplinkNAT yes
SmartGatewaySpeed 128 1024

Interface "ath0"
{
	Ip4Broadcast 255.255.255.255
	HelloInterval 6.0
	HelloValidityTime 108.0
	TcInterval 4.0
	TcValidityTime 324.0
	MidInterval 18.0
	MidValidityTime 324.0
	HnaInterval 18.0
	HnaValidityTime 108.0
}

(Niit and SmartGateway statements were comented out for 0.5.6-r8)
As you can see, it's a "conservative" approach since the nodes are static.

Maybe timers and events are in need of some tuning? I'm wrong somewhere?
Thanks for your hints

Antonio
