No, that is not the case.

As long as you run SOLSR on EITHER 32 OR 64 bit nodes it will work.  It
fails when you create a network that has BOTH 32 AND 64 bit nodes, like you
intend to...

Mind you, I wouldn't bother with the security plugin until I had the network
up and running stable.
