Gain for me:
Gain: +20 dB for extra choice (as Mitar noted)
Gain: another +10 dB because I don't have to chase the ath9k patches with AirOS ( I am lazy )
Gain: another +10 dB because the AirOS UI is easier for most people than Luci (I wish it were the opposite)

Total Gain: +40 dB... not bad :)
Gain for UBNT:
+5 dB ... they sell more HW because the community wireless networks will be able to honestly recommend the UBNT boxes, since it will run our mesh software out of the box
