bridging happens on layer 2.
olsrnetworks are routing (ip addresses).
802.11s lives on layer 2 (mac addresses).
so, what you could imagine is a bunch of 15-20 systems with 802.11s,
forming ohne little cloud, which gets interconnected to other cloudes
with olsr.
or, you just run olsr over a 802.11s mesh.
that might be a situation, where you want to have both layer
communicating, in the sense of getting some metrics of 802.11 into the olsr.

as i am not an olsr developer, i can't tell you anything. but, the
pluggable metrics could be seen as a development into a direction, where
some cross layer stuff might be possible in future.
