The actual link layer is based on some 900 Mhz ICM band radios, and 
simulate a 'multidrop serial line'.
Here 'simulate' is loosely defined, and requires that one radio be a 
'master', and several slaves.
On the master radio node I've created several 'slip lines' to handle the 
slave brood. The radios
run at about 115200 Kbs so it's faster than the ancient 9600 baud slip 
lines of yore, but definately
is not in the realm of the modern age in my not so humble opinion....
