Hi Henning,

most Freifunk Firmwares that are using olsrdv1 enable the nameservice
plugin by enabled. That means we have it on 90% or more of the nodes.
It is also used for a bit more than names, quite important for us is the
latlon-file to distribute coordinates. And we also use it to distribute
services.

I'm not sure these additional features should all be in a nameservice
replacement in v2, but we will need something to replace these. I think
it would be a good idea to write such a software in a way that can
transfer all kinds of data (e.g. json-encoded anything).

One thing i'm missing in the current nameservice plugin is btw, that you
can only create A/AAAA records, because it just writes to the hostsfile.
It would be useful to be able to distribute other record types as well
in future implementations.
