[Olsr-dev] [Olsr-users] Strange debug message from olsrd

HI all,

Just out of my head I remember that weh ad the same issue in our mesh. We
run about 80 wireless adhoc nodes with olsr and we use 5GHz

backbone links to connect some of those nodes on their wan port.

While I saw the same duplicated packets, It turned out to be an issue with
the p2p backbone links. We are using ubiquity hardware and their
implementation

of the client-bridged mode is incorrect and was the key which caused that
duplicated olsr packets on our side.

After changing the p2p backbone links from AP<->Client-bridge mode to
AP(WDS) <-> AP(WDS) there was no duplicated packet anymore.

It seems that in client-bridge mode the multicast packets from olsr got
duplicated per backbone links . so it was after 2links time 4 and so one ..

Maybe you have a similar setup !?

Bye Bluse

mmm it seems we are not using buggy driver because our node are ubiquity
picostation with madwifi, moreover we have the same message from eth0 (
wired interface ) ... and not seems we have loop in every node... and now
mdns is disabled and we continue to have the same message... here is the
realtime topology:

this is a warning that olsrd received the exactly same packet from one of
its neighbor more than once,..
infact olsrd received a packet with an seqnr which is identical to the
previous packet,..

known cause for example is the buggy wireless driver of routeros (if u use
for example use wds links (with bad signal) between mikrotik routerboards
you will get duplicate packets seldomly)

or maybe you built a layer 2 loop, or found another buggy hardware/device
driver,..

mdns might also produce duplicates

btw: olsrd versoins that report this, are not affected by duplicate olsr
packets (they ignore the duplicate), but older olsrd versions interprete a
duplicate packet as extreme packet loss (65535 packets lost *G) and will set
the links lq to 0,...

as you get many erros of this type, i recommend to find out what causes it,
as other software may also react bad on duplicates

here is our topology http://131.114.250.100/status.php
the node is fd7d:d7bb:2c97:dec3:0:15:6dfc:720b

but i find the same message on all node of network...
here is our typical configuration

debug level is set to 1 but forced to 0 by -d param on our custom olsrd
starting script
