I think this is possible with the madwifi driver (via some proc files, but I 
do not know for sure and do not have the time to google for it right now). 
Maybe this is also possible with other drivers (in a different way). But 
there is no standard to retrieve such "cross-layer" information, i think 
something is planned as part of 802.11k.

Hence, best way to do it is PacketPair atm, at least for a generic routing 
daemon like olsrd that should be working independent of what's below the IP 
layer.
