I just tried the same with my simulation and got routes back to the HNA 
gateway...

(my simulation is a ring of 6 nodes, the 10.0.0.x subnet is my olsr network)

Can you look for error messages in the output of "olsrd -d 1" ? Maybe piping 
it into a file for a minute or two ?
