[OLSR-users] OLSR and 802.11

Hello all,
I am new to adhoc networks, so please bear with my many questions.
I  am trying to set up an adhoc network with a few PC's and laptops. Do I 
have to use 802.11 cards, or can I use some other communication media like 
bluetooth , IR, SDR ? Does OLSR support this ? If not then is it possible 
to implement this?
What is the interaction between OLSR and 802.11, i.e what does OLSR need 
from 802.11 to form an ad hoc network.
