the actual setup of 'keeping things together' is a matter of taste. it 
doesn't really matter to me how we do it. as long as things become 
maintainable and as long as it's clear that things belong together 
(vague, yes).

for example: my java bindings need include files from the olsrd tree. 
therefore they should be maintained together with the olsrd tree. having 
them in the olsrd tree is the easiest way. your idea also works.
