hmm as i was a bit surpsied by this numbers,.
i just did above diffs on the olsrd core only (without plugins or
documentation,..)

diff -Nur olsrd-0.5.6-r7/olsrd/src olsrd-0.5.6-r8/olsrd/src|diffstat|tail
-n1
46 files changed, 1129 insertions(+), 589 deletions(-)

diff -Nur olsrd-0.5.6-r7/olsrd/src olsrd-0.6.0/olsrd/src|diffstat|tail -n1
79 files changed, 7388 insertions(+), 3484 deletions(-)

diff -Nur olsrd-0.5.6-r7/olsrd/src olsrd-0.6.1/olsrd/src|diffstat|tail -n1
85 files changed, 7576 insertions(+), 3562 deletions(-)
based on 40700 LOC: 18.6% (+),  8.7%(-)

here we see that especially 0.6.1 did not change much within the core,..
and r8 to 0.6.0 changes less than 3K or (~7% of the code) lines (and adds
some new features)

and to get something to compare these results against:
i did the diff between the last 2 debian packages,.. (afaik 0.5.6-rc7 and
0.5.6-r7)

141 files changed, 13582 insertions(+), 13722 deletions(-)
based on 36900 LOC: 36.8%(+), 37.2%(-)

so here we see a change of 37% of the code!

imho compared to this the diff between 0.5.6-r7 and 0.6.1 doesn`t look big
any more.

on the other hand this shows that our code isn' t very stable, but we are
getting better,.
