[Olsr-dev] BMF Plugin and linux 2.6.31

I have olsr-5.6-r5 installed on linux running a 2.6.29 kernel.  When I run olsr with the bmf plugin (ver 1.6.2) everything works as expected and the multicast packets are forwarded and received fine.  When I add a new node running a 2.6.31 kernel with the exact same olsr configuration and sending/receiving code the new node does not receive any of the traffic.  The node running 2.6.31 registers the bmf0 interface and I can see the packets being received on the interface (bmf0) via ifconfig and tcpdump however the socket is not getting them.  In addition bmf is indeed doing its job and forwarding the packets correctly.  Any ideas what is going on?  I have tried everything!
