Thank you for your quick reply. I quick search through the 0.5.5 etx code I
came across two areas where the etx value is actually calculated and that's
in link_set.c and tc_set.c. Since I am only focusing on merging just the etx
with my bandwidth calculation, would it be safe to say I should just focus
on those two files.

Doing it with 0.5.5 is possible, but the code fragments for LQ-Calculation
are distributed over LOTS of code parts.
In 0.5.6 (and development tip) the only difference between RFC hopcount
metric and three different ETX metrics is the plugin, everything else is the
same code path.
