I don't understand. Are you looking for installation instructions for the 
vmware software itself or for freebsd (or whatever) in vmware? The former I'd 
expect somewhere on vmware's website..

If you'd use Debian, you could just "apt-get install virtuallbox" ;-) 
virtualbox is very similar to vmware workstation but gpl'ed.
