I would guess that there is a direct connection between 1 and 3, what 
you see here are two direct routes.

Can you show us the output of the txtinfo plugin for the "/all" command? 
This would give us a lot of information about the state and parameters 
or the routing daemon.

Another test could be to switch of OLSRd and try to ping between node 1 
and 3. I would be interested in seeing the loss rates.
